Our Lycopene Sexual Wellness Capsules aren’t actually a single herb like all our others. It’s a scientific blend of Lycopene (from tomatoes), L-Arginine Asparte (an amino acid chelate) and Pycnogenol® (French Maritime Pine Bark Extract). This blend was developed by researchers as a unique strategy for supporting healthy erections in male struggling with signs of ED. Sextracts Sexual Wellness is pleased and proud to offer this to you.

First, let’s explain what each of the ingredients are. Lycopene might not sound familiar, but it’s as common as tomatoes. In fact, this is how Andrew Weil, MD describes it: “Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant, which means that, among nutrients, it has a greater-than-average ability to ‘quench’ free radicals that cause damage to cells.”  Tomatoes and tomato-based prepared foods are the most prevalent source of lycopene, but recent research has revealed that watermelon is excellent source of lycopene and often better tolerated than tomatoes.
Here’s the conclusion from a study on wrestlers; “Time to exhaustion was longer with arginine supplementation compared to placebo. These results suggest that L-arginine supplementation can have beneficial effects on exercise performance in elite male wrestlers but cannot explain the metabolic pathways which are responsible from these effects.”
Yes, wrestlers who took an L-arginine supplement just before a match, increased their time to exhaustion. This could have obvious positive benefits for males when it comes to maintaining peak sexual performance and endurance in the bedroom.
Here’s a quick explanation of what role nitric oxide plays in erections for males:
“Nitric oxide is a major physiological stimulus for relaxation of penile vasculature and trabecular smooth muscle, all essential for penile erection. Relaxation of the trabecular smooth muscle of the corpus cavernosa leads to a decreased vascular resistance and increased blood flow to the penis. Alongside the increased flow, venous outflow is reduced by the compression of the subtunical venules. The combination of increased inflow and decreased out-flow causes penile engorgement and erection. Nitric oxide from the vascular endothelium of the sinusoids and from the NANC cavemosal nerves appears to mediate the vasodilatation.”
Arginine is the natural form of L-arginine. It’s an amino acid that can be produced by the human body. Therefore it doesn’t need to be ingested, although the biosynthetic pathway may not produce sufficient arginine on its own, so some additional arginine must still be consumed through diet.  L-arginine is then used to make nitric oxide, a compound in the body that relaxes blood vessels and muscles which helps to support healthy blood flow. Scientifically, arginine deficiencies mean less production of nitric oxide.  Less production of nitric oxide can lead to poor sexual function, which translates into erectile dysfunction in men. We are by no means saying that L-arginine is a cure for ED, we’re simply stating that L-arginine has been shown to have many health benefits.
In one study, fifty men with erectile dysfunction were given five grams of L-arginine per day. The double-blind study also gave placebos to 50% of the men. After six weeks, more improvement was seen in those who had the L-arginine, than those taking the placebo. In another 1994 study, there was an 80% percent improvement in the erectile function of men given nearly three grams of L-arginine a day for two weeks. This is highly encouraging.
In a UCLA study from 1994, researchers discovered; “This is the first study that shows that if you exercise in addition to taking dietary supplements you have a markedly enhanced production of nitric oxide —in science, we like to call it a synergistic effect.” This was in reference to their study on Atherosclerosis, they did find that food supplements (L-arginine and antioxidant vitamins) in combination with regular, but not over-strenuous exercise, was found to boost levels of nitric oxide in mice.
From a study in 2003 called “Treatment of erectile dysfunction with pycnogenol and L-arginine”, researchers came to an extraordinary conclusion; “We conclude that oral administration of L-arginine in combination with Pycnogenol causes a significant improvement in sexual function in men with ED without any side effects.”  They also went on to say; “After 1 month of treatment with L-arginine, a statistically nonsignificant number of 2 patients (5%) experienced a normal erection. Treatment with a combination of L-arginine and Pycnogenol for the following month increased the number of men with restored sexual ability to 80%. Finally, after the third month of treatment, 92.5% of the men experienced a normal erection.”

There is conflicting evidence, though. Some researchers are finding that intake of L-argenine is having no effect on nitric oxide production in healthy individuals. In another study from 2005, researchers stated; “The intake of arginine aspartate has been shown to increase anabolic hormones like human growth hormone (hGH) and glucagon.” They concluded this; “The chronic intake of arginine asparate during four weeks by male endurance athletes showed independent of dosage no influence on performance, selected metabolic or endocrine parameters. Consequently, there seems to be no apparent reason why the supplementation of arginine aspartate should be an effective ergogenic aid. The practice of using arginine aspartate as potential ergogenics should be critically reevaluated. Further investigations with higher dosage and extended supplementation periods should be performed.”

Yet other equally as scientific studies tell a different story, especially when L-arginine is blended with other ingredients or vitamins. Our informal panel of 32 expert volunteers had an overwhelmingly positive response to our Sextracts Sexual Wellness capsule blend, but only the men reported significant improvements in their short term and long term stamina. Regardless, the potential is exciting, and we look forward to finding more studies about this unique sexual wellness supplement blend.
