Description
Guarana is a stimulating natural herb that has been shown to be pharmacologically active. This stimulator is most effective in the short term and is most effective for both men and women. The secret of guarana’s reputation as a sexual wellness herb likely lies in its stimulant properties. Not a true sexual stimulator when compared to our catalog of sexual wellness products, but such an important energizer in spontaneous moments, we couldn’t leave this one out.*
The seeds of guarana contain a crystallizable compound called guaranine which is chemically identical to the caffeine found in other plants such as coffee beans, tea and Yerba mate. It is the presence of guaranine that makes guarana seeds capable of acting as such an effective stimulant.
One of my favorite researchers; Christian Ratsch says; “…this little-studied essential oil may have mild psychoactive and aphrodisiacal properties.” Unfortunately, there has been vastly more attention paid to the caffeine-like chemistry of guarana, which may excite the nerves of the body and thereby increase sexual stimulation. This is similar to what coffee does, but what makes guarana superior in our eyes here at Sextracts Sexual Wellness is that it reportedly works much more gradually and lasts longer than coffee. This is strictly an opinion arrived at by our informal panel of 32 volunteers, but it was nearly a unanimous one.
So again, although this isn’t in exactly the same category as most of our sexual wellness products, it does seem to have a direct effect on sexual excitability, performance, and desire. This could be simply because of how stimulating it is to the human body, and the manner in which it gradually ramps up that stimulation. Here at Sextracts Sexual Wellness, we feel that It’s often easier to get revved up for some spontaneous sexual activity when one is feeling energized!
As one might expect, stimulating effects of guarana seeds can be quite beneficial for helping to relieve exhaustion and fatigue. This could also help explain why a 2007 study using guarana extract on humans and found that lower doses actually led to cognitive improvement among a majority of the subjects. Researchers concluded; “Guarana and the combination, and to a lesser extent ginseng, also led to significant improvements in serial subtraction task performance. These results provide the first demonstration in humans of the psychoactive effects of guarana, and confirmation of the psychoactive properties of ginseng.”
In such cases, the caffeine in guarana likely helps in increasing alertness and mental agility. Again, when the body is tired and lethargic, it cannot be expected to be sexually aroused. Use of guarana in such conditions may pep up the mind and body and prepare it better to enjoy sex. As is the mantra here at Sextracts Sexual Wellness, herbal aphrodisiacs don’t have to promise the tired old hype of increased length to be an effective aid in your sexual wellness program. Spontaneous moments happen all the time, and in our panel of 32 volunteers, something we found interesting, is that after we completed our informal studies on Guarana, 9 of the subjects decided to carry Guarana Capsules with them, in purses, pockets, or glove compartments in their car.
When questioned why they did this, it was a chorus of confirmation that one of the most helpful things when approaching an upcoming sexual experience, that our Sextracts Singles Guarana Capsules provided a much more effective means of getting energized than just grabbing a cup of coffee from their favorite coffee shop. We’d love to hear about your experiences with guarana in our comments section below.
